Patriotism should be 'earned' by a nation/state - not just 'expected' of someone because he or she was born there!

LOST Korean war, Viet Nam lost Iraq, lost Afghanistan, etc. BUT > won the war  when they invaded Grenada, a tiny island as big as Manhatten, which had no defence!

America prefers to call its wars 'conflicts.' That way it doesn't sound too bad when it's known they LOST!
