Just a Story?

One beautiful day just outside the village the came a rumbling noise, loud and strange. The old shepherd didn't know what to do. The ground opened and two of his goats fell into it. An old tree fell down. It lasted only about five minutes. But much damage had been done. Soon after all the villagers were back in the village, very frightened. The old wise man had seen this kind of thing happen long ago. Everyone was asking him what they could do. As he was trying to answer them tha ground started rumbling again and several even larger cracks opened. A young mother and her newborn were taken down in there. GONE forever. The rumbling finally stopped. Later that night, the old man was worried. His people were wanting for him to give them an explanation for what happened. Then, suddenly, he got the answer! There must be an old man in sky. Next morning he told everyone there must be a man up in the sky, a very unhappy old man. Maybe if they sacrificed one of their finest animals the sky man might be nice to them. Since the man in the sky was powerful he must be a god! Sacrifices became the norm. No more disasters! for a while. So, the people stopped offering slaughtered animals. Note: that's why their are still alters in some churches. What they didn't know was that the old wise man was keeping all these things for himself (unbeknownst to the people, of course!) As time passed people stopped offering gifts. And, no more disasters. Maybe just a lightning strike once and a while. The old wise man got so used to getting all this stuff (because there was no one up there to give it to). He told his village people that the Sky-God came down one night and talked to him. They weren't to sure, so he had to create some kind of fear in them to make them pay up! He said the Sky-God told him that if people didn't live by his laws and pay every month they  Look at how far the God-Talklers have come to-day!

These days, the god-talkers are not ashamed that they are making billions of dollars yearly. They bag about their million dollar jets, luxury sports cars, million dollar mansions. You know that God didn't give those things to them > YOU DID.   Same old thing.

I'm not a Christian - BUT I still respect the people  and their right to believe whatever. AND i feel sorry for them.  .    Occasionally I 'peek-in' on the TBN, CBN, etc. and all there is to see is 'lecturers' prancing around a huge stage babbling  (often incoherently), mostly rationalizing, promising listeners anything (from riches to cures for all diseases) . . . . oh, and ALWAYS putting the blame on the poor old Devil   . . .  and begging for money, or selling oil to put on your wallet (to attract money, or put on your body to cure cancer, etc.)

Poor old Devil

- whether he exists or not

he gets blamed for everything!

no matter how you wasted money on booz, gambling, extramarital affairs, etc.
